In this book, Reyes brings historical and political insights to a study based on fieldwork in two refugee camps and two resettlement communities. She demonstrates how music of all kinds (from churches, temples, and clubs to festivals, song contests, and celebrations of national holidays) and in a wide range of contexts (from live performances to the recording industry and pirated cassettes) can provide valuable insight not only into the refugee experience, but into the experience of migration as a whole.
